From Radio to Newspaper

Last semester, my Mass Media obligations here at Henderson included working at the campus Radio Station, KSWH. Each semester, us Mass Media majors rotate around, bringing in a fresh batch of students behind us to fill our shoes. My second HSU semester places me at the Newspaper.

Unlike the Radio Station where you could listen online, I am sure if the newspaper will be accessible to anyone outside of the campus here. I hope that the paper will have an online version, but I won't know the particulars of my responsibilities, or really anything about the paper, until next week.

Hopefully they'll let me take some photos for them, and hopefully no one will take whatever they make me write too seriously. Apparently my writing isn't very formal.

As soon as I get informed about the (hopeful) online edition of our newspaper, I'll be sure and pass the knowledge on to the five of ya'll. LOL

I'm eating "Vanilla Milksake" PopTarts right now. I can't believe I'm posting this but, they're not half bad!

My friend Austin showed me this YouTube video, and I HAD to post it on here for ya'll to see.  I can't really say much more about it, because I would start giving stuff away.

Classes went fine today.  This semester will definitely be much more of a challenge than last semester, but it's a healthy step up.  I've got a decent amount of homework already after the first two days.

I won't let my homework stop me from keeping up with this blog.

But, more importantly, and explanatory to the length of this entry:

Foiyst of all, a few quick notes:

Each blog entry has it's own specific page, viewable by clicking the entry's title. That page will display the comments, which are not visible through this main page.

Once in the individual page, you have two options: a) click "Cameron Magee" at the top, to return to the main page, or b) click "older" or "newer" to jump ahead or behind one entry.

I shrink the photos down nice and small to make the entry's tight and compact. To view to images larger, view additional similar images, download an image, have the image mow your lawn for you, or anything else, just click on it. I host all my images through Flickr, which gives you, the viewer, a TON of options.

Please comment on the entries, to let me know you were here. I really have no good way of knowing who reads my blog, so taking the extra 37secs to write ANYTHING helps me know that you read, and that you dropped by.

When commenting, please click the "Name/URL" option, leave the URL box blank, and enter your first name only, then write your comment. Otherwise, we'll get a page full of mysterious "anonymous" posts. Nobody likes those. :D

I've been producing this blog now consistently for only a few months. I have no real concept of how many times it's visited, who visits it, if the content is any good, if you like my portrait on the left, if I talk about Aubrey too much, if I don't talk about you enough, if the posts are too long, if there are not enough photos, or anything. I hope that you will be encouraged to venture out and just make ONE comment, I can't express to you how happy it made me to find my friend Dong had made a comment yesterday. I had no idea he even read this. thanks, Dong.

I try to keep a fair balance of love stories, nerd reviews, friend outings, school happenings, funny stories, thoughtful readings, family matters, email forwards and YouTube videos.

Oh, and an un-fair balance of hyperlinks. HAHAHAHAHA...

I really enjoy producing this blog, I hope you really enjoy reading it when you can. Please, by all means, read when you can, comment when you can, and have a spectacular day.

A Semester's Worth

Tomorrow I begin my second semester of college. The first semester truly flew by, as I suspect will no longer be the case. Thanks to my Father's scheduling skills, we managed to keep my earliest class as late as 9:30am: Oral Comm.

Hopefully that will allow me to maintain my natural sleep schedule of 12:30pm-8:30pm. Not to put a name on it or anything, but I've just about decided that's what my body wants to do. Sometimes I push it later, but that's about right.

Last semester I worked at the Radio Station.
This semester I work at the Newspaper.

Last semester I kept mostly to myself.
This semester I hope to find a good group of guys to hang with.

Last semester I got all A's and a B.
This semester I hope to keep it up.

It's strange to be bach down here in Arkadelphia, away from my Bentonville relationships, but it is beginning to feel natural. Aubrey and I are here together, which makes it much easier, at least for me.

It's hard to drive over four hours away from home to spend all your time in a foreign environment, with new faces, and tough challenges. It's hard to leave your entire life, your family, your friends, your job, and everything that makes home so great. I love everything about Bentonville, and it's hard to live away.

It's easy when the best thing about Bentonville comes with you.

Today wasn't too eventful. I got to go to FBC Bentonville this morning, but then it was ON THE ROAD. I spent the majority of the day on the road, only stopping for gas and supper.

I timed it to meet Caleb in Little Rock for some Church's chicken. After doing a very in-efficient job of navigating through the ROCK, I made it back to Arkadoo around 7pm. I've been doing un-exciting blog-innapropriet unpacking and sheet changing and laundry for the last 5hrs now. I'm hitting the hay.

It's good to be back, and I am thankful for safe traveling today. Surely the LORD had his hands on the wheel of my car during today's adventurous drive.

I'm looking forward to Aubrey arriving tomorrow. She got a couch for Christmas that is currently residing in the back of my Rainier. I can't WAIT to build that dang couch with her. It's going to be A BLAST! (I'll be sure and snap a few shots of the team in ACTION)
