Well, a sporting event can be hard to come by on a Wednesday afternoon at 4:30pm. But, the LORD provided. We have intramurals here, so I wandered down to the intramural fields. Sure enough, some guys were playing Soccer, so I went to work.

I was able to get right out on the field, and chase these guys back and forth for about an hour. I had fun experimenting with fast shutter speeds, to freeze the action of them running. It was some of the most photo phun I've had in a while. You can see some of the photos here, if you want. I love shooting sports.

The next day, NWA Photo called me, and asked if I would be interested in shooting a cross country meet for them this weekend. One day after I had learned the secrets of how to freeze action and make running look good. The LORD provides.

FW: Monkey Guard Dog

After being forced to intervene to save its life several times, they settled upon the trained canine, named Sai Hu, and are happy to report that it has been very successful.

"Whenever the baby monkey gets bullied, he dashes up and drives the others away. And the baby monkey is also very smart. Each time he smells danger he runs to jump on the dog's back and holds on tight. The alpha male monkey has been really unhappy since we sent in Sai Hu. He tried to organise several ambushes on the little monkey, but they all failed because of the dog," said a zoo spokesman.

thanks, Cellar, for that FW (forward).  Adorable.  I went to find the Bible verse that talks about "the Lion will lay with the Lamb" but I couldn't find it.  I thought it was in Revelation 5, but it wasn't...?

Go-Buy: Canon Powershot SD750

I am convinced that I have found the perfect digital camera. This is not my first, it is actually my third, but hey, the third time's the charm, right?

I typically shoot with my Canon Rebel XTi, which is a D-SLR camera, which means it's big, and it's heavy. So, I like to keep my Powershot on my hip. If I'm going somewhere that I'm going to want to take some pictures, but I don't want to lug around a camera bag, or even a pouch, this is what I'm all about. I slip this baby into my little Lowepro pouch, and on the hip it goes, to be forgotten about. Literally, with this thing out of my hands, and not around my neck, I forget that I even have it sometimes, it's that light.

It's small, as you can see, a sharpie dwarfs it in size. There are better digital cameras out there, with bigger zooms, and better mics for video, but this one is the best overall. Of course my D-SLR takes better shots that this, but it also weighs several pounds, and requires a separate bag in my hands all night. This camera wins the balancing act of size, weight, convenience, functionality, and price.

It costs $165. WOW. Can I say that again? WOW. That is ridiculous. When combined with a $20 4gb memory card, you can shoot over 30mins of video on this. All my YouTube content is shot with this camera. Add a spare battery for less than $20, and a $16 sleek pouch for the hip, and you're done. Those four elements combined make this the best camera available. I checked, and the whole caboodle, shipped to my ZIP code, was $230.21.

Check out the package I designed here.
Check out more photos that I took of it here.

All the photos from Sunday were with this powerhouse. I can't express how nice it was to have it on the hip, and forget about it. Ask Aubrey, I'm like a Texan gunslinger with this piece, I'd say I can draw and snap in about 2.6secs.

I Voted!

Today was my first Presidential Election Day. I went ahead and registered here in Clark County, so that I can avoid mailing my ballot home while I'm here in college. I drove down to the Local Presbyterian Church, and cast my vote, as an 18 year-old American boy. I love this country. Two important things on the ballot today.

1) The President of the United States
2) Clark County becoming a Wet County

Both were easy selections for me, but we can only pray that God's will be done, and wait for the results. No matter what the outcome of today's election, my prayer is not that my vote went to the winner, it is that my vote allowed God's will to be done, both here in Arkadelphia, and in one nation, under God.
